The foaming agent used in the production of EPE is butane.
Butane is the gas filled in lighters. The foaming process is also the process of vaporizing liquid butane from high temperature and high pressure.
It is liquid when injected into the pearl wool screw, and gaseous after being extruded from the head.
The density ratio of gaseous butane to space is 1.996:1, which means it is twice heavier than air.
It will sink to low-lying ground and accumulate. You can roughly think of butane as water.
If the workshop leaks, those Where will the water go? Butane is a flammable gas, but don’t be too scared. It is much safer than household gas and gasoline.
The combustion concentration of butane is 1.9-8.4%, and the combustion of organic matter requires several times more oxygen than itself. The greater the concentration, the insufficient reaction, resulting in slow release of energy and no explosion.
Only if the concentration is moderate and the reaction is sufficient, the energy accumulation cannot be released quickly, leading to an explosion.
If the concentration is too small, the energy is low and it is not dangerous. Therefore, the safety of butane is achieved by controlling the concentration of butane!
So, how to control the concentration? ventilation! Exclude butane outside! Therefore, the production workshops, warehouses and butane rooms of the EPE Factory are the key parts of ventilation!
